CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Yoga means to yoke or unite. In its most simplistic form, yoga is a system of specific poses (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama) and meditation exercises designed to heal, purify and bring awareness and balance to both body and mind.

 

Each balanceYoga session will include flow vinyasas and yoga postures as well as focused breathing and intentional relaxation to promote optimal health, well-being and balance.

Aerial Yoga - (No classes at this time - Private Sessions Only) Aerial Yoga is a modern style of yoga that incorporates a soft fabric hammock to explore alignment, release chronic tension, and experience lightness and freedom in your practice.

Aerial yoga helps you to move more freely, with less effort, by counteracting gravity. Suspension in the air releases tension on the bones and muscles, increasing flexibility and deepening your practice. Suspended yoga strengthens core muscles and increases spinal and shoulder flexibility.

We encourage you to begin your aerial yoga journey with “Intro to Aerial Yoga”, “Gentle Elevation” or “All Levels Aerial Yoga”. Even if you are advanced in standard yoga, we recommend starting with these all-level classes for your comfort and more ease in your practice, as you are learning.

Hatha Yoga - Hatha yoga is wonderful for all levels! Many modifications will be offered, pranayama , meditation, and balancing poses. This type of yoga flow will help you experience being fully alive and conscious finding a seamless harmony. We will explore the physical abilities of our joints and enhance mindfulness through the whole body. Hatha yoga is slower practice where we will hold poses for longer periods of time. This practice will be a perfect balance of movement and breath.

Prenatal yoga - Prenatal Yoga is a specialized form of yoga designed specifically for pregnant women. It is a modified practice that supports the physical, emotional, and mental well-being throughout the pregnancy journeyPrenatal yoga involves stretching, controlled breathing, mental focus, and safe poses that can help prepare for childbirth by relaxing the body and increasing strength and flexibility in the muscles used during labor. It offers a range of physical and mental benefits during pregnancy.

Benefits of Prenatal Yoga:

  • Improved Sleep: Prenatal yoga can help enhance the quality of sleep for expectant mothers.

  • Stress Reduction: It provides relaxation techniques that reduce stress and anxiety.

  • Physical Conditioning: Prenatal yoga focuses on gentle stretching, strengthening, and flexibility exercises. These help prepare the muscles needed for childbirth.

  • Alleviation of Discomfort: It may decrease lower back pain, nausea, headaches, and shortness of breath.

  • Bonding and Support: Attending prenatal yoga classes allows pregnant women to connect with others going through similar experiences and prepares them for the challenges of parenthood.

Yoga Flow with Tracy (Sundays and Thursdays) - These classes designed to both invigorate the body and relax the mind. Each class will include Sun Salutations (or similar asana series to warm up the body), standing postures and a floor series to encourage students to move deeper into their practice.   Breath work is incorporated through the class.  Each month we introduce a new practice that has a specific focus or theme for that month; Sunday and Thursday classes will be the same practice and are appropriate for every level of practitioner.

Yoga Flow - An energetic class utilizing vinyasas (breath synchronized movement) to invigorate the body and mind. Each class will include Sun Salutations, standing postures and a floor series to encourage students to move deeper into their practice. This class is appropriate for every level of practitioner.

 

Yoga Flow Lite - A gentler version of our Yoga Flow class, this class will be the perfect start to your day. Each class will include Sun Salutations, standing postures and a floor series to encourage greater mind-body-spirit balance. This class is appropriate for every level of practitioner.

Yoga Vibes – Flow into the weekend with an energetic class designed to awaken mind, body and spirit! Each class will include Sun Salutations, standing postures and a floor series to encourage students to move deeper into their practice. This class will be Co-Taught by the balanceYoga Teaching Team. The “vibe” may be mellow or funky…either way, this class will offer the perfect opportunity to strengthen and open your body while calming and quieting the mind. This class is appropriate for every level of practitioner.
